Addicted to Kites

14 months ago, while celebrating our wedding anniversary in Bodega Bay, I bought my husband a kite. We zoomed off to fly it in 20-25 mph beach winds. He was hooked instantly. The brown truck began a familiar trek in and out of our driveway. My Sweetie was quickly on a first name basis with the driver. I now anticipate the view in the skies behind our house while making my way up the dirt drive after a day of work. Did that famous brown delivery truck come today... or will I see a tried and true flyer in the sky?

  1. There it is, the Premier Warm Flo-Tail Delta. This is the kite that re-kindled my love of kites and flying. I have bought several kites since the Genesis kite and now do not think of it as particularly large. But at the time, holy-molly it was all I could do to to get it back. This image of me flying, on a beach North of Bodega Bay, puts everything back in perspective. I remember walking to a small rise in the beach 30 or 40 feet from the high tide line, sitting down reading the instructions and assembling my first Delta Kite. I remember attaching the flying line and thinking I am way to old and fat to run my guts out to get a kite in the air, but after all this is the Beach and maybe I will not have to run too far. Ha, what a surprise, the kite shot up into the air as fast as I could pay out the line. Oh my, the pull. I had never had a kite pull so hard, it was great. Then, I stood there watching the kite rise and marveled at just how simple and beautiful it was.
Oh, by the way, I am the guy in the image flying the kite. Grand Pa John
